National Survey Affirms Resident Satisfaction
The Foundation for Community Association Research has released the results of its Zogby International survey done in November of 2007. This survey affirms that a overwhelming majority of Americans who live in community associations are satisfied with their communities. For a summary of the results click here.
Did someone forward this to Morgan Carroll, who seems to think differently?
Alright, then, how did all the dissatisfied Americans wind up in communities I manage?

(unfortunately, I think my comment got deleted-- so, here goes again).
I did write-in my opinion on last eve but I did not forward my said opinion to Morgan Carroll (as asked of me via email this morning).
I did express my sincere opinion of which seems to be a common one after reading so many other comments of folks out there. Again, in my opinion, the Morgan Carroll bill is simply redundant and more so is not a good reflection of what condominium home owners and/or HOAs want as part of legislation.
Yes. The language of "impartial decision makers" very much concerns me since I agree with those that it is automatic for these "impartial decision makers" to most definitely have their own personal interests + financial interests involved if these persons or a person is a thinking human being. Whether or not said "impartial decision makers" involcve their personal or financial interests is, of course, arbitrary. But I am not willing to put all of my chips on the table just to find-out if I've been lucky that my particular concern/s met with a group or person that was "impartial" to my claim. I would hope that most out there would feel the same way since there's alot at risk unless the Morgan Carroll bill does not pass through legislation.
I also feel as if it could be a very costly decision in passing said bill if mediation doesn't resolve one's claim. Then we all lose if we are condo owners or HOAs. The claim taken into legal action costs the HOA board (puts a dent into the HOA budget)that then raises HOA dues for the condo owners who need to off set these costs to balance the budget! Who wins? No one. I do not think it is fair that anyone has to pay when it's not even necessary. It's a a never ending circle of doom and a bill that has only negative impacts for all.
Again, I plan to talk to my neighbors and friends who live in condominiums so that they, too, can first become aware of the Morgan Carroll bill, understand it and see for themselves that this bill is nonsensical and, then comment on it as I have done here.
Most sincerely,

Can a HOA officially take a position that represents the Homeowners view. For example, if a community is "up in arms" about a proposed water rate increase, can the HOA Board Of Directors openly state that they oppose this rate?
thanks,
